Troop 21
Hell's Canyon is a very deep canyon (deeper than the Grand Canyon) which is situated on the northern border of Oregon and Idaho. Our Troop's venture crew is made made up of scouts who are over 14 years of age or younger scouts whose parents dare to come along. Every year the venture crew tries to do a fifty miler backpacking trip so this year we decided to hike through Hell's Canyon. Our trip took us about seven days (hiking and driving) and was very much worth it.

I should mention that Glen made a big sacrifice for us all along the trail, he took all of the pictures so we don't have any shots of him. Gasp, there is still signs of civilization. |
For the first day there were a few streams to cross. Some of us took very good care of our feet and changed our shoes like Dudley, Mike and Tom. Others of us just barged right on through BROOHAHA!! | ![]() |

After breaking camp for the first time on the trail it started to rain on us. Thankfully most of us brought appropriate head gear (except for Eric). | ![]() |

![]() | After picking up the second half of our food from Mrs. Brown's ranch we camp on a beach a couple hundred yards away from her ranch. Thankfully the beach had a nice eddy on the Snake. |
After pitching camp near the beach some of us went on a small trek to an old cabin. Here Mike, Matt, andd Taylor pause for a second. | ![]() |
![]() | This is a few days later when we get off the low trail following the river and follow the high trail. This is one of our camp sites on a saddle. On the trail we did our laundry every few days. |
As an option some of us hiked up to hat point (which I think is the highest point on the Oregon side of the Canyon). We actually saw real toilets and people we didn't know. | ![]() |
