1999 Spring Camporee
Community Support

The Camporee saw many local community and municipal organizations turn out to show their support for scouting. Our thanks to all for helping make this Camporee a success.

Gary Ginther of Deschutes County Search and Rescue helps teach the scouts about the role of SAR, and demonstrates the wide variety of equipment that volunteers must be ready to use in the event of a callout.
Tarquin Waggoner and Matt Bowe learn to accurately throw a 50 ft heavy rescue line at the SAR display.
Deputies Butler and Campbell of the Jefferson County Sheriff Department Marine Patrol were on hand with their vessel to talk to the Scouts about Safety Afloat.
T21 ASM Glen Ardt arranged with ODFW to bring the mobile pellet rifle range from the Hunter Safety Education Program.
The range was a hit with the boys, with lines out front all day long.
As a surprise for the Scouts, the organizers arranged for an "unannounced" visit by Air Life of Oregon.
Air Life pilot Jim Downes explains the intracacies of the Bell Helicopter to wide-eyed Scouts.
