1999 Spring
Advancement Outing

Every March and April, Troop 21 receives an influx graduating Webelos Scouts. As part of our outdoor program, the Troop conducts weekend Advancement Outings (one in Spring, one in Fall) that are specifically geared to introducing the new Scouts to the patrol method and to the setup and care of patrol and troop gear. In addition, focused skill sessions are offered on Trail to First Class requirements so that the new Scouts can hit the trail running.

This Spring, the Advancement Outing was held on an 80 acre parcel of juniper and sage woodland owned by the Bend RLDS Church.

The new Scouts learned how to setup tents, stoves, and patrol boxes, as well as how to work together to plan menus and share in the cooking and cleanup duties.
