| Pilot Butte Service Project |
Pilot Butte juts some 500 feet above the middle of Bend, Oregon. It is an old dormant cinder cone, and offers spectacular views of Central Oregon and the Cascades, drawing thousands of visitors. Unfortunately, lots of visitors means lots of erosion and lots of litter. Pilot Butte has been the locus of many Troop 21 service projects, including several Eagle projects to assist the State in erosion control. Several scouts from Troop 21 took it upon themselves to assist State Parks in cleaning up Pilot Butte one weekend.
