This is an old time favorite of one of our Assistant Scoutmasters, who used to pack this route with his troop back when he was a Scout. His favorite recollection was that it as along water all the way, and was downhill. The French Pete Creek drainage is in the Three Sisters Wilderness, on the high western slopes of the Central Oregon Cascades. It is reached from Hwy 126 at Cougar Reservoir. This is a traverse-style trip, in that the group was dropped off near French Mountain to camp Friday night. On Saturday, the group began the hike along Pat Creek up to the confluence with French Pete Creek. The group made camp Saturday afternoon, and the next morning followed French Pete Creek downstream towards Cougar Reservoir.
